I'm closing the salon.

Saturday, July 26th is our last day in the space.

I wanted you to hear that from me before you heard it anywhere else.

Let me tell you why, because you deserve the real version.

I spent 14 years in corporate America as a director, and I was bogged down in a way that's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't lived it. Leaving one of the largest global consumer electronics companies in the world to come into the beauty industry was one of the better decisions I have ever made, and I made it with my oldest son right next to me.

He named this business. He helped me market it, he came up with the logo, he decorated the space. This was supposed to be ours. He used to joke that the salon was how he was going to meet girls. He had zero interest in doing lashes, he wanted to be a big boss, and at 21 he was already doing an amazing job at it.

Some of you may not know that I lost my son.

It sent me somewhere I still don't have the words for, the deepest, darkest place a mother can go. I think I held onto the salon because a piece of me was holding on to him, and as time goes on it gets clearer and clearer that he isn't here, so closing it felt like closing another part of him. The depression was real, the hurt and the pain were real, and if I'm being honest with you, they still are.

But at some point I had to ask myself what I am here to do. As parents we think our whole lives are built for our children, and then you find out what happens when they're gone, which is something I would not wish on any mother. You're left with a hole and an enormous question mark, and I've had to sit with that question. Right now, the answer isn't the salon.

Many of you know I have another business that has done very well. What you might not know is that this salon has been the live pilot for it, and I have been in here developing artificial intelligence technology and proving out how I could use it to help other business owners do what we did here. It took two years of development, and earlier this year we went live.

And the honest truth is I couldn't keep doing both. I couldn't be here five days a week the way this place deserved, and it deserved better than half of me. So I'm choosing the path I know and love, which is marketing and technology. Moving into my private studio lets me keep doing your lashes while growing and developing our team more. It lets me be with my team at Lux Group, the team that I spent the last two years putting together. I am grateful for every one of them, they carried a great deal while my attention was split at the salon.

Now, about the studio, and please read this part carefully.

My private studio is at my residence, and it is genuinely private. It is completely separated from my home, with its own waiting area and its own bathroom. There are no kids and no pets. It is quiet, it is clean, and it is yours while you're in the chair.

It's also only seven minutes south of the salon. Honestly, part of why I bought the salon in the first place was how close it was to home.

And I mean this sincerely, this is completely based on your comfort. If a private studio isn't for you, I understand that fully and there are no hard feelings at all. You have trusted me with your time and your face, and I'm not going to assume that trust automatically transfers to a new setting. That is your call to make, and I'll respect it either way.

For everyone who does come, nothing changes but the address. Booking is the same, the professionalism is the same, the policies are the same. Once your appointment is booked I'll send you the address and you'll be good to go.

I want to thank every single one of you, and especially the ones who were here in those early years, the ones who hugged me after I lost my son and didn't need me to explain a thing. I will never forget that.

Please don't read this as a sad thing. It's actually a really good thing. I'm happy, and I am genuinely excited. We all have to pivot at some point, and this is the big one for me.
